“Art has been to me a life times’ pleasure. Over the years I have progressed through most mediums and techniques and realised there is always more to learn. I am ever willing to experiment and diversify.
My paintings have no particular rule or style as I am happy working in all mediums, whether it be oils, acrylic, pastels or watercolour, often having work in progress on the favoured theme simultaneously, but using the character of the chosen medium to make original pieces.
I like simplified composition with very little detailed drawing as bold vibrant use of colour and layered surface texture are more important to me. I try not to be timid with colour, bringing its interaction into every stage of painting. As a mature student I achieved an honours degree in Fine Art at The University of Derby in 1999, followed by an adult education teaching qualification in 2000.”
