“I have spent most of working life in medical research; but drawing, and to some extend painting, have always been there in the background.
I started “seriously” painting about 20 years ago, having attended some excellent adult education art classes (but without any formal art training). I have been a member of Derby Sketching Club for about twelve years.
My lifelong interest has been in the natural world, and so my preferred subjects are wildlife and landscape, though buildings and townscapes also appeal to me.
Watercolour is my favourite medium - I love its delicacy and spontaneity, I find it lends itself well to landscapes and to detailed animal studies, even to the world of the imagination.
Whatever the subject, I always try to capture the essence and spirit.“
